Elk Grove's Brandon Post doubled home a run in the 10th inning to help the host Grenadiers past Buffalo Grove 6-5 on Thursday in Mid-Suburban East baseball action.

Johnny Assimakopoulos finished 2-for-5 and drove in 2 runs for Elk Grove, which climbed into first place in the MSL East at 8-3, one game ahead of Prospect and Rolling Meadows. The Grens are 16-7 overall.

Peter Arbov went 3-for-4, and Christian Camacho had 2 hits to help make a winner of Adam O'Malley (4 IP, no runs allowed).

Sean Edgar tripled and drove in 2 runs for Buffalo Grove (7-15, 2-9).

Marist 3, St. Viator 1: The visiting Lions were held to 3 hits in an East Suburban Catholic Conference loss, one of them a double by Matt Darling. George Burny allowed 1 earned run in his 6 innings on the mound for St. Viator (18-8).

Maine West 12, Niles North 2: The visiting Warriors saved most of their scoring for late in the game, plating 5 runs in both the fifth and seventh innings in Central Suburban North play.

Eric Outlaw doubled twice and drove in 2 runs, and Chris Selgrad went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI to lead a 15-hit outburst from Maine West (10-12).

Matt Swanson struck out eight in earning a complete-game victory.
