Boys soccer: Fox Valley roundup Tuesday, Sept. 30

St. Edward 2, Christian Liberty 1 (Monday's late result): Joe French had 1 goal and 1 assist in the Green Wave's nonconference win. AJ Franklin also had a goal while Alec Uscila tallied 1 assist. Keeper Matt Hesch stopped 4 shots.

St. Edward 2, Riverside-Brookfield 1: The Wave (8-7, 2-2) won by a repeat score for the second straight night as French knocked in 2 goals while Franklin added an assist to beat the Bulldogs in Metro Suburban West action. Hesch again was solid, making 10 saves in net.

Streamwood 2, Geneva 0: Forward Alan Camarena notched his 15th and 16th goals of the season in the Sabres' Upstate Eight River win. Keeper Sergio Blanco also amassed his fourth-straight shutout and sixth overall with 5 saves while Erie Ortiz and Edwin Rueda each flashed assists for Streamwood (10-3-2, 1-1-2).

Dundee-Crown 1, McHenry 0: All D-C (10-5-1, 1-1) needed was a goal from an unassisted Andrew Janikowski in the first 40 minutes to take home a Fox Valley Conference Valley win. Jose Gonzalez sealed the shutout with 11 saves in net.

Burlington Central 9, Rockford Christian 0: It did not take long for the Rockets (9-5-2, 7-2) to take control in a Big Northern East rout with all 9 goals coming in the first half. Jack Schramme scored 4 goals along with 1 assist while brother Luke finished with a goal and 2 assists. Cole Tecza had 2 goals while A.J. Gouriotis and Stefan Jochum scored 1 goal each. Ryan Fitzgerald recorded the shutout in goal with 3 saves.

Prairie Ridge 2, Hampshire 1 (OT): The Whip-Purs (4-11-2, 1-2) lost an FVC Fox heartbreaker in overtime, which saw Jose Hernandez score on a PK in the first half. Andy Pederson stopped 15 shots in goal.

IMSA 2, Westminster Christian 1: It was tied at the half but the Titans pulled away with the game-winner in the second half of a Northeastern Athletic Conference showdown. Will DeHaan scored the Warriors' only goal on an assist from Noah Gannon while keeper Sam Carani stopped 8 shots for Westminster (7-8-1, 1-3).

Neuqua Valley 3, Bartlett 1: Tony Estanislao scored on an assist from Timmy Riordan 4 minutes before the half but the Wildcats scored twice in the second half for a UEC Valley win. Jake Hasenstein managed 9 saves in goal for Bartlett.

Francis Parker 3, Elgin Academy 1: Two second half goals by the Colonels spoiled the Hilltoppers' home debut in Independent School League action. Elgin Academy (6-5-0) grabbed an early lead off Elliott Wittmeyer's goal from a Patrick Westerhoff corner kick. Goalkeepers Spencer Schael finished with 12 combined saves for EA.

St. Charles East 5, Larkin 1: A couple of defensive miscues and a backup in goal was not a recipe for success for the Royals (4-9-4, 0-3-2) as they fell in UEC River action. Ricardo Nava scored on an assist from Sammy Rodriguez in the first half to tie the game. Leo Martinez stopped 9 shot in his first start in goal for Larkin.

St. Charles North 5, Elgin 0: The North Stars were just too much for the Maroons (6-8, 0-4), who also missed 2 penalty kicks in the process during their UEC River loss. Eleno Montes (4 saves) and Edgar Rodriguez (9 saves) split time in goal for Elgin.
