Kankakee man charged with thefts from two DuPage distribution centers

A Kankakee man was charged with burglary for stealing computer devices from two AT&T distribution locations in DuPage County, authorities said.

Darryl Montique, 23, of the 800 block of North Evergreen Street, will be in a DuPage County bond court this morning after being charged with two counts of burglary, authorities said.

Authorities said Montique took more than $40,000 worth of computer and phone equipment between April 30th and May 5th from two AT&T distribution locations in DuPage County.

The first theft was reported on May 6, authorities said, after the sheriff's office received a complaint of a theft from the AT&T distribution center in unincorporated Naperville. While investigating that theft, authorities learned of a second theft, this time at a distribution center in Villa Park.

Detectives from the sheriff's office teamed with investigators from the Villa Park Police Department investigated leads that led to the recovered multiple iPads, iPhones and Toughbook Computers that were taken from the DuPage locations.

Detectives also discovered additional proceeds from multiple AT&T distribution centers in other jurisdictions and additional charges maybe possible.

Montique remains held in DuPage County jail while awaiting bond court this morning.
