Rescuers search for missing Illinois boater

HAMPTON - Western Illinois authorities are set to resume their search for a missing 44-year-old man who disappeared after a boat overturned on the Mississippi River.

Rescuers say five people were fishing aboard the boat an anchor rope broke Tuesday morning near Hampton, in far-western Illinois. The boat drifted into a dam and flipped.

All the other occupants were rescued, but the search is set to continue Wednesday for Charles W. Slocum.

Illinois conservation officials say divers eventually found the boat about a mile away, submerged in 20 feet of water.

But they had to call off the search for the Colona man because of rough currents.
