Softball: Fox Valley roundup Tuesday, May 6

Huntley 22, Dundee-Crown 1: With 25 hits and 22 runs scored, the Red Raiders (14-7, 5-2) jumped all over Dundee-Crown at home in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division play. Megan Larson (2-for-3, 3 RBI) and Haley Spannraft (3-for-5, 4 RBI) each had a home run, with Spannraft crushing a grand slam, to power the offense. Kateri Conklin was a force both in the circle and in the box, going 4-for-4 with an RBI while at the plate and pitching all 5 innings, giving up 1 run on 7 hits. For the Chargers (3-9-1, 0-5) Lauren Girard could not record an out while Amanda Moore pitched all 4 innings of relief.

Hampshire 10, Woodstock 0: Another day, another FVC Fox win for the Whip-Purs (16-9, 7-0) as they stayed perfect in the division with a 6-inning win at home over Woodstock. While Aly Snider (2-for-4, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 RS) and Becca Hurst (2-for-3, 2 2B, 2 RBI, RS) powered the offense to an easy win, Haley Widmayer shut the Blue Streaks down. Widmayer tossed 5 innings and gave up just 2 hits and struck out 11 with 2 walks.

Streamwood 13, Larkin 1: With 8 runs in the top of the fourth inning, the Sabres (4-10, 3-8) picked up an easy Upstate Eight River win at home against Larkin. Kaitlyn Hedger allowed 1 run on just 3 hits in 5 innings of work in the circle, striking out 4 and also had a pair of RBI at the plate. Jessica Daley and Stephanie Soto each had a triple and drove in a pair. Beka Harrington scored the lone run for the Royals in the first inning.

South Elgin 5, West Chicago 3: A 4-run sixth inning powered the Storm (11-11, 5-7) back to .500 on the year and to another win in UEC Valley action. Mallory Mecklenburg (2-for-3, 3 RBI, 2 RS) crushed a 3-run homer to give the Storm the lead, with Sam Helton and Paige Allen each adding an RBI. Karli Dobler earned her fourth victory of the year in the circle, going all 7 innings, allowing 10 hits and 3 runs.

Burlington Central 15, Harvard 0: A pair of home runs gave the Rockets (12-6, 7-1) a big edge to an easy win in Big Northern East action. Bekah Harnish smashed a 3-run homer and finished with 4 RBI while Kassie Gaylord added a solo shot. Brooke Gaylord went 4 innings and gave up just 2 hits but walked 5 on her way to her sixth victory of the year.
