The Times of Munster reports Cherry is charged with murder in what is believed to have been a gunbattle over drugs in Gary.

Cherry was wounded in the gunfight in which 22-year-old Rolando A. Correa of Gary was killed.

Police say they weren't informed when Cherry was released from a suburban Chicago hospital in late February.
