Gurnee police to conduct special traffic enforcement

Gurnee Police Department officers will conduct special seat belt protection enforcement zones throughout the village from May 9 through 26. Officials said the campaign is designed to coincide with Memorial Day weekend. This enforcement activity is funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with the goal to improve seat belt use during overnight hours. In addition to the occupant protection enforcement zones, officers will be deployed throughout the village to focus on impaired driving and speed enforcement.
