Baseball: Fox Valley roundup Monday, May 5

Huntley 7, Burlington Central 2: The Red Raiders (15-4-1) entered the fifth inning down 2-1 and they left the inning up 5 runs thanks to 2-run doubles from Mark Skonieczny (1-for-3, 2 RBI) and Trevor Symbol (3-for-4, 2 RBI) in a nonconference win over the Rockets (12-7). Jake Ciskowski and Matt Sullivan each belted out 2 hits for Huntley, while Central's Ryan Gannon (2-for-3) doubled and Reed Hunnicutt (2-for-3) scored a run. Mason Martin earned the win on the mound for Huntley, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits with 6 strikeouts in 7 innings. Brendan Bushy suffered the loss for Central but allowed just 1 earned run.

Dundee-Crown 3, Prairie Ridge 2: Ahren Ludwig went the distance and gave up just 1 run in an eight-inning Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win. Ludwig was charged with 2 runs but gave up just 1 hit on 5 walks while striking out 9 in 121 pitches. Fabian Guttierez drove in the game-winning run in the top of the eighth on an RBI single that scored Vince Damato. Ricky Alvarado's only hit knotted things in the sixth with a single that scored 2. Damato went 2-for-2 with 2 runs scored and walked twice for the Chargers.

Westminster Christian 20, IMSA 1: The Warriors (7-16, 4-2) blasted out 20 runs on 18 hits in five innings of a Northeastern Athletic Conference win. Frank Angiulo went 3-for-3 with 3 RBI and 1 run scored while Luke Weston (3B, RBI, 3 RS) and Tyler Mamrot (2 doubles) went 2-for-2. Ian Merlak (2-for-3) also doubled and drove in 3 runs. Nic Angiulo earned the win on the bump.

Chicago Christian 8, St. Edward 0: Knights pitcher Christian Bolhuis was just too tough on the mound, as the junior struck out 10 in a complete-game shutout. Tighe Koehring (2B) and Ryan Nudd registered the only Green Wave hits in this Suburban Christian loss. Chicago Christian outhit St. Edward (7-14-1, 6-7) 9-2 and scored 4 runs in the second and 2 runs both the third and fourth innings.

Geneva 16, Streamwood 1: The Vikings rang up 9 runs in the second inning and outhit Streamwood 15-3 in this Upstate Eight River loss for the Sabres (6-15, 4-12). Zach Campbell, Danny Moran and Kevin Sodja accounted for Streamwood's hits.
