Palatine slugs out a victory

Palatine's softball team was playing on artificial turf on Thursday but the Pirates certainly had real bats.

They slugged 6 triples and a double while rolling to a 13-1 five-inning victory over host Wheeling at the Wheeling Park District's Heritage Park.

The triple barrage was led by Courtney English.

The Augustana-bound senior went 3-for-4 with 3 triples and 2 RBI.

Jamie Haze was 2-for-4 with a pair of triples while Kenzie Craver had the other triple and was 3-for-3 with a RBI.

Other key hitters for Pirates (5-15, 2-6) were Grace Rohrwasser (2-for-4, RBI), Emily Griffin (1-for-3, double, RBI), Victoria Parrot (2-for-4, RBI) and Erin Davis (1-for-4, RBI).

Jules Udoni notched the win, striking out three while senior Katie Quagliano struck out five for Wheeling (3-14, 2-7), which had 1 hit in the Mid-Suburban League crossover.
