Hoffman, Schaumburg co-host Memorial Day observance

The public is invited to attend a Memorial Day observance in Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg on Monday, May 26.

The Hoffman Estates Memorial Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the Hoffman Estates Veterans Memorial, located at 411 W. Higgins Road. Immediately following that event, the observance will move to Schaumburg and continue at 10:45 a.m. at St. Peter Church and School, 202 E. Schaumburg Road.

Schaumburg Mayor Al Larson and Hoffman Estates Mayor William McLeod will speak at the Memorial Day observance. The guest speaker will be David M. Murphy, vice president of Pillars of Honor, an organization which transports an original scale model of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., to local events across the country.

Following the observance, hot dogs and other refreshments will be served at the Picnic Grove at St. Peter. Please bring along lawn chairs for seating. The original one-room schoolhouse at St. Peter will be open for tours during the picnic.
