Man charged with sexually abusing Arlington Heights girl
A 21-year-old Plainfield man faces charges that he sexually abused a 13-year-old Arlington Heights girl he met on a social networking site, prosecutors said.
Andrew Sandoval was ordered held on $40,000 bond Thursday by Cook County Judge Jill Cerone Marisie. Marisie also ordered special conditions of bond in that Sandoval may not contact the accuser or her family, he may not have contact with anyone under 18 and he cannot access the Internet.
He has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, traveling to meet a minor and indecent solicitation of a child.
Authorities say Sandoval met the girl online in March and that they communicated on a daily basis. Prosecutors say he engaged in sexually explicit conversations and sent the girl sexually explicit photographs.
Sandoval engaged in sexual activity with the girl twice at her Arlington Heights home and remained there overnight, unknown to her parents, according to police reports.
Sandoval has no criminal background. If convicted of the most serious charge, he faces three to seven years in prison. Probation is also an option. He next appears in court on May 22.
