Bloom, Roesch power Hoffman Estates

Hoffman Estates 4, Conant 3: Ethan Bloom and Matt Roesch helped lead the host Hawks past the Cougars.

Bloom allowed 1 earned run with 4 strikeouts in a complete-game victory.

Roesch doubled and scored in the second inning, made a terrific catch over the fence in right field to rob Conant's Anthony Forte of a homer in the fifth, and then singled in the sixth to put the winning run at third base.

Keegan Mugerditchian had a pair of RBI singles and ended up scoring the winning run. He led off the sixth with a walk, got to second on a sacrifice bunt by Brad Demmon, took third on Roesch's single and scored on a sac fly from Zach Lewandowski.

Brady Pelesh, Zach Gale and Matt Fauth each doubled for Conant.

Prospect 5, Elk Grove 4 (8 inn.): Tyler Damasky's two-out single scored Mike Smith in the bottom of the eighth inning to help Prospect (12-6-1) pull out a Mid-Suburban East victory.

Dan Devereux earned a win in relief for Prospect.

Jake Cavaiani had 2 hits, one of them a double, and drove in 2 runs for the Knights.

Prospect starter Jordan Fedro struck out 7 in his 5⅓ innings.

Adam O'Malley doubled for one of Elk Grove's 3 hits and suffered the loss in relief.

Hersey 11, Buffalo Grove 1 (5 inn.): Joe Silva, Jack Warner and Andrew Segalla produced 2 hits apiece at the top of the order as the visiting Huskies earned an MSL East triumph.

Silva doubled and drove in 3 runs, and Warner drove in 4 runs.

Tommy Pearson allowed 2 hits and struck out three to earn the win for Hersey (8-10-1).

Rolling Meadows 4, Wheeling 1: Erik Schurtz improved to 5-1 with a complete-game 3-hitter and also double in a run as the visiting Mustangs improved to 9-8 overall and 5-2 in the MSL East.

Manny Zervos hit a solo homer for Meadows, Bob Suchecki was 2-for-3 with a double and Brett Gibson had 2 hits.

Deerfield 4, Maine West 3: The Warriors scored once in the bottom of the seventh, but the rally fell short as Deerfield claimed a CSL North decision.

Junior Torio went the distance for Maine West, allowing 8 hits with 3 strikeouts.

Geoff Duckmann doubled and had 2 hits for Maine West (5-11).

Marist 8, St. Viator 0: The host Lions couldn't get much going against Marist starter Ryan Kairis, who allowed 5 hits, all singles, in a complete-game win in East Suburban Catholic Conference play.

Matt O'Neill was the only player with 2 hits for St. Viator (15-6 overall).

Palatine, Schaumburg suspended: The Pirates and Saxons battled through nine innings and were tied at 9-9 before running out of daylight. The game will be continued and completed at a time and date to be announced.
