Librarian Authors Teen Mystery Guide

Book lists featuring all types of mystery titles for teens are included in a new book by author Amy Alessio, a librarian at the Schaumburg Township District Library. Mind-Bending Mysteries and Thrillers for Teens: A Programming and Readers' Advisory Guide (paperback) was released by the American Library Association Editions on April 14. The 152-page guide offers teen booklists featuring every type of mystery subgenre, from cozies and romantic mysteries to suspense thrillers, police procedurals, and beyond. It additionally contains titles published within the past five years, accented by a handpicked assortment of classics. Alessio also offers up her recommendations for some adult mysteries that teens may enjoy, along with interviews with popular mystery authors.

Librarians and various leaders who run programs for teens will appreciate the step-by-step instructions for more than 40 programming ideas. Mind-Bending Mysteries and Thrillers for Teens is available at alastore.ala.org, barnesandnoble.com, amazon.com and other major booksellers.

Alessio has written several teen programming books and recently authored a young adult fiction title, Taking the High Ground.
