Allain's all-around game lifts Hersey

Hersey's Ryan Allain doubled twice in a 3-for-3, 2-RBI effort at the plate and also delivered a quality start to help the Huskies past visiting Buffalo Grove 8-1 on Monday in Mid-Suburban East play.

Jack Warner and Mitch Smelser had 2 hits apiece for Hersey, which broke open what had been a close game with 2 runs in the fourth, 3 in the fifth and 2 in the sixth.

Allain struck out nine in his 5 innings. He also allowed 8 walks, but just 1 hit in yielding only an unearned run.

Luke LaSalvia pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief for the Huskies (7-10-1).

Andrew Cole and Ricky Strba had the hits for Buffalo Grove (5-12).
