President not upfront about voter ID

Why are Democrats so opposed to fair voting procedures such as requiring photo identification to cast a ballot? If nothing else, it would cut down on the cemetery vote with which everyone in Chicago is familiar. I realize there may be a few individuals who currently do not have a photo ID, but a desire to exercise the right to vote argues that they will make the effort to acquire the necessary document. If they now have the wherewithal to register, and to get to the polls, they also have the ability to acquire a photo ID. The local Democratic or Republican office would be willing to assist in the process.

Lacking any cogent reason for opposing fair voting, the president at his disingenuous best speechifies that about 60 percent of Americans don't have a passport. Really, now, no one has even suggested that you should not be allowed to vote unless you hold a passport. Isn't it beneath the dignity of the high office he holds to offer up a red-herring argument like that? I am sure the American public can recognize and discredit that tactic.
