Wheeling native sworn in as Harper College student trustee

A Harper College standout athlete and honor student will represent his classmates on the college's board of trustees.

Colin Weber, 20, was sworn in as the board's student trustee this month. The Wheeling native succeeds Scott Lietzow, who will graduate in May.

"I've always loved getting involved," Weber said in a news release. "I look forward to having an active voice on the board and offering a valuable perspective to the trustees who set school policy."

Weber, studying to become a chemical engineer, plans to focus on keeping the cost of attending Harper affordable for students.

He is an All-American in two sports, leading the Hawks to their third consecutive national title in cross country last fall and serving as assistant coach for the track and field team. Weber has been inducted into three honor societies, including Mu Alpha Theta, is vice president of Student Government's executive branch, and sits on Harper's Strategic Planning and Accountability Committee.
