Waukegan library hours:

The Waukegan Public Library board has voted unanimously to extend by two hours the time the library is open to the public each week starting May 1. The additional hours are on Thursday evenings when the closing time will move from 6 to 8 p.m. This brings the total hours the library is open to the public to 56. The hours were originally reduced in 2010 due to budget constraints. "Our goal has always been to reclaim our lost hours and this is a step in the right direction," executive director Richard Lee said in a news release. As of May 1, library hours will be: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.
