"Into the Woods" is James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim's fractured fairy tale about an ambivalent Cinderella, a bloodthirsty Little Red Riding Hood, a Prince Charming with a roving eye, and a witch who raps.

When a baker and his wife learn they have been cursed with childlessness by the witch next door, they embark on a quest for the special objects required to break the spell: the cow as white as milk, the cape as red as blood, the hair as yellow as corn, and the slipper as pure as gold.

Swindling, lying, and stealing from others earns each character their wish at the end of Act One, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later.
