Robie model opens at Prairie Park

A new model home - The Robie - steps into the spotlight at Prairie Park, an upscale condominium community where several other models are also on display.

"People can have a luxury lifestyle at an affordable price in this multifunctional unit," said Nick Blackshaw, sales rep at the community. "This is a great condo for young people starting out or for those downsizing to a smaller place with no maintenance."

A spectacular entrance of granite boulders, cascading waterfalls, evergreens and aquatic plants sets the tone for the prairie-inspired community by Smith Family Construction Inc.

Set on 18 acres of lush landscaped grounds, five mid-rise buildings surround the centerpiece lake and its fountains, tree-lined walkway and sitting areas. The community includes a clubhouse with workout facility and indoor swimming pool.

Each building features a luxurious common entrance with stone fireplace, original art pieces and stained glass, plus two high-speed elevators. Buyers can select from open floor plans with one to three bedrooms, all designed to resemble the comfort and function of a single-family home.

The Robie is priced from $279,900 and features 1,418 square feet with two bedrooms and two baths.

The furnished model's contemporary interior features cherry hardwood flooring, artwork depicting Chicago cityscapes and beautiful rich finishes.

The kitchen showcases cherry cabinetry with crown molding topped with granite, stainless steel appliances, glass tile backsplash and 6-foot island with breakfast bar.

In the great room, a vaulted ceiling gets your attention while two leather love seats sit across from the plasma TV. Several wood accent tables hold decorative accessories while a game table and two chairs occupy a corner. An unusual light fixture adds interest.

The room accesses the oversized private terrace where homeowners can enjoy the views and grill outdoors.

The master suite shows medium wood-toned furnishings, taupe bed covering and two California custom closets. The room also accesses the terrace.

In the master bath, comfort-height, double vanities, a deep soaking tub, separate shower and beautiful 12-by-24-inch porcelain tiles impress.

Double French doors lead into a multipurpose room furnished as a guest bedroom with a Murphy bed by California Closets. A brick wall gives the space a loft look. Two bookcases flank the bed and a desk offers a spot for catching up on work or managing the budget.

This room shows a great use of space because the bed can be up and unseen, and for overnight guests, it can come down for use.

The guest bath features a single vanity, shower with heavy glass door and the larger porcelain tiles again for a very current look.

Other community amenities include heated underground and above ground, enclosed parking, heated sidewalks at the entrance to each building and heated ramps going into the parking garage.

Prairie Park sits in a convenient location two miles from I-294 and three miles from Route 53. The Metra train station is five minutes west on Dundee Road.

The Milwaukee Avenue corridor offers a variety of shopping and restaurants. The Wheeling Recreation Park and Aquatic Center is only a mile away while the Chevy Chase Golf Club sits five minutes to the north, both operated by the Wheeling Park District.

To tour the models, visit the Prairie Park sales center at 700 N. Wolf Road across from the Westin Hotel near Lake-Cook Road and Milwaukee Avenue. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
