Sweet deal offered for those who donate blood in St. Charles

Who couldn't think of countless ways to spend $10 at Oberweis Dairy? Well, donors to the St. Charles Mothers' Club blood drive to be held on Monday, April 21 at Oberweis Dairy in St. Charles will find themselves in that tasty predicament thanks to the generous contribution of an anonymous donor.

The donor who has pledged to give $10 gift cards for the first 30 people to sign up and donate to the drive.

The St. Charles Mothers' Club, a local nonprofit organization that has supported the community since 1924, has teamed up with Heartland Blood Center to put together the blood drive.

Stacy Farrar, community impact coordinator for the club, spearheaded the project in an effort to bring all components of the club together at the last meeting of the season, "Philanthropy, Community & Fun" during the month of April, which also just happens to be "National Donate Life Month."

Heartland will have a coach bus outside of Oberweis, 1790 W. Main St. in St. Charles, from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Consider donating to help supply blood to patients in area hospitals. You can schedule an appointment to donate by visiting Heartland Blood Center's website, www.heartlandbc.org, and finding the club on the list under the Blood Drives tab or by calling Sheri at (630) 723-2550.

Those who are unable to donate blood can still participate by visiting Oberweis and purchasing a sweet treat as 30 percent of sales will be donated back to the club to support local children and families in need in the community. See a club member at the store for a slip to turn in for this part of the fundraiser.

The club welcomes new members, so this is a great time for moms living in and around the St. Charles area who are interested in membership to come out and see what the club is all about.
