Man sentenced to 20 years for 2011 Decatur slaying

DECATUR, Ill. (AP) - A central Illinois man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in the shooting death of a teenager in Decatur.

The (Decatur) Herald & Review reports Eric L. Cunningham was sentenced Tuesday as part of a deal with prosecutors. The 22-year-old had been charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder for the 2011 shooting that killed Devin Kirk.

Cunningham testified against 20-year-old Tre McSpadden, who was convicted of first-degree murder and attempted murder in the case. McSpadden faces at least 66 years in prison when he's sentenced in May.

Kirk was shot in the back and buttocks and died at a hospital. No one else was hurt.
