Barrington man accused of drug trafficking

A Barrington man was arrested on charges of drug trafficking after authorities seized six pounds of marijuana worth a street value of $27,000.

Larry A. Thompson, 52, of the 400 block of East Lake Shore Drive, was charged with unlawful marijuana trafficking and unlawful delivery of marijuana, after a warrant was served for his arrest on Tuesday, according to a Thursday news release from the McHenry County sheriff's office.

Authorities who were investigating a report of suspicious packages delivered to an address on the 6300 block of Main Street in Union searched the residence on April 7 and discovered about four pounds of high grade marijuana, packaging material and a scale, the release said.

Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group agents later searched Thompson's Barrington home, where they found two more pounds of marijuana, authorities said.

Also arrested as part of the investigation were 43-year-old Linda J. Rednez and 45-year-old Stephan Rednez of Union, each charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Thompson's bond was set at $75,000.
