U-46 bus crashes with two students aboard

Two children and a bus driver were taken to the hospital after a crash Wednesday afternoon near the Streamwood and Bartlett border, school officials said.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 4 p.m. at the intersection of Lake Street and Monarch Drive, Streamwood police said. The Elgin Area School District U-46 school bus was carrying special education students home from school, said U-46 spokesman Patrick Mogge.

As a precautionary measure, the driver and two students - the only people on the bus at the time - were all taken to a hospital to be checked, Mogge said.

Streamwood police continue to investigate. No citations have been issued at this time, police said.
