Arlington Hts. program features re-enactor, author and portrait artist

Hear how a re-enactor, an author and a portrait artist use their creative skills to make their subjects come alive at the Arlington Heights Arts Commission Spring Arts Outreach. The event, "Spring into Character," will start at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the village hall, third floor, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.

The evening opens with networking and light refreshments followed by a performance by the St. Viator brass quintet.

Re-enactor Jean Marie Dwyer-Wrigley will depict the "unsinkable" Molly Brown and discuss how women from the past connect with women from the present.

Amy Gail Hansen, author of two Taylor Swift biographies and the best-selling novel "The Butterfly Sister" explores the Taylor Swift phenomenon and tell how it helped her in writing fiction.

Portrait artist Bill Chambers whose subjects have included President Clinton and other well-known figures relates his experiences in portraying the essence of an individual in his paintings.

There is no admission charge.

The Arts Commission will present the 2013 Photography Contest first place winner and the winning photo will be displayed.

There will also be a display of the winning entries from the Banner Pole Project held last fall.
