Anti-violence event scheduled at Maine West

Maine West High School will host a public program Wednesday that will spotlight the cause of curbing violence against women, officials said.

The student human rights group Voice for the Nameless is sponsoring the event, called "End the Violence!" which will feature local organizations and elected officials discussing the work they do in various areas of preventing violence against women.

Attendees will also view "From Fear to Freedom: Ending Violence Against Women," a 30-minute film.

The event is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the school's Little Theater and student cafeteria. Maine West is located at 1755 S. Wolf Road in Des Plaines.
