Wisconsin medical College to begin student recruitment

DE PERE, Wis. - The Medical College of Wisconsin hopes to begin recruiting students for its De Pere campus in June.

The college is waiting for accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission. School officials say the first class will include 20 to 25 students. The college will train doctors in a three-year curriculum that uses medical professionals from the community as teachers. Press-Gazette Media reports the college's executive vice president, Dr. Joseph Kerschner, says mental health care will be a key component of the college's curriculum.

College officials expect classes will begin in July 2015.
