Area schools to participate at Hersey band fest on Saturday

Nearly 2,500 music students will converge at John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights on Saturday to participate in the 14th Annual Chicagoland Invitational Concert Band Festival.

Sponsored by Quinlan and Fabish Music Co. and Music For All, this noncompetitive event will feature 39 Illinois school bands with each group performing a 30-minute concert for a distinguished panel of judges, including professors from Texas, Virginia, Georgia, and throughout the Midwest. An extensive educational clinic will follow each performance.

Performances begin at 11:30 a.m. and will continue until 10 p.m. The Elmhurst College Wind Ensemble will perform a featured concert at 3 p.m.

Admission is $10 for adults, $3 for students and seniors and a family Pass is $25. Tickets can be purchased at the door. For more information, contact Hersey Band director Scott Casagrande at (847) 718-4941.
