Former child soldier to speak at East Aurora High

A group of East Aurora High School students walked 38 miles from their school to Chicago to bring a former African child soldier to town, and now Ishmael Beah will be speaking at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at the school, 500 Tomcat Lane.

Tickets are available for $5 at the door or in advance by emailing Shane Gillespie at sgillespie@d131.org . Beah, the author of “A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier” and “Radiance of Tomorrow,” will speak about his time as a child soldier in Sierra Leone and how he was rescued from that situation.
