Burlington Central handles Marengo

Burlington Central 8, Marengo 4: The Rockets collected 8 hits and capitalized on 5 Marengo errors to double up the Indians in the Big Northern East. Winning pitcher Jacob Schutta allowed 4 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits and a walk and struck out 5 in 6⅓ innings. Parker Boron earned the save. With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh, Boron struck out one hitter before he induced a game-ending flyball to right field. Tanner Smith, Mike Lee, Bryan Cynova and Danny Gerke each drove in 2 runs for Central (7-1, 2-0).

West Chicago 14, St. Edward 6: Jack Tierney went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI and Tighe Koehring doubled and drove in a run, but St. Edward was outhit 12-8 and committed 5 errors in this nonconference loss. Alex Lara took the loss for the Green Wave (1-7-1).

Palatine 11, Crystal Lake South 6: Michael Avella went 3-for-3 with a double and scored twice and the Gators outhit the Pirates 12-10, but 7 errors led to 6 unearned runs in this nonconference loss. Starting pitcher Dakota Siwula took the loss for CL South (4-3)

Sycamore 13, Hampshire 3: A 4-run first inning and a 5-run sixth powered the Spartans past host Hampshire in nonconference play. Brandon Bowen finished 2-for-3 and RJ Consigny and Tyler Schutt doubled for Hampshire (2-6). Starting pitcher Kyle Rutkowski took the loss.
