Lombard library accepting food for fines

Helen Plum Library patrons with outstanding fines will be granted amnesty if they drop off nonperishable food items for the Lombard-Villa Park food pantry at the circulation desk during National Library Week.

The Food-for-Fines program will run from Sunday, April 13, to Saturday, April 19. Each item of nonperishable food that is donated will result in $1 in overdue fines being "paid."

Food donations cannot be applied toward the cost of lost or damaged library items, unique collection items or other fees. Patrons without fines are still encouraged to bring in food donations.
