May 18: The Blackhawk Chapter of Studebaker Driver's Club and the Glen Ellyn Historical Society present a free vintage auto show, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Glen Ellyn History Park, 800 N. Main St., Glen Ellyn. Al Krodel, member of Des Plaines Historical Society, presents a program on Studebaker History. Bill Arick with Jan Shupert-Arick present a program on the founders of the Lincoln Highway Association. The first Vintage Auto Fest Bake Sale is also included in the day's activities. Veterans will be recognized and proceeds will benefit Veteran Charities. In addition, a food drive will be held to benefit the Libertyville Township Food Pantry. Aug. 10: 34th annual Early Times Street Rod show, Seyller Park in Hampshire. This show is not judged by classes, but for fun; our staff awards a Best of the Brew plaque to several lucky cars. This is Northern Illinois largest and longest running car show held by a single hometown car club, with 595 cars and about 3,000 spectators last year. Aug. 24: Le Geneva Concours d'Elegance in the downtown historic business district of Geneva. More than 200 classics in celebration of the art of the automobile, while highlighting the 100th anniversary of the Maserati, the wonderful V-12 and V-16 autos built before 1948, and the 50th anniversary of the Mustang.
