District 50 Hunger awareness event:

Third grade classrooms at Woodland Elementary West will participate in the Empty Bowls food drive at 6:30 p.m., April 9, at the school, 17371 W. Gages Lake Road, Gages Lake. Empty Bowls is a grass-roots organization that raises hunger awareness and food donations through the arts. Students and families have been invited to participate in a light dinner of soup and bread in exchange for a cash donation or a canned food donation to Warren Township Food Pantry. The food drive is sponsored by Arbor, Jewel, Panera, Mariano's, Something's Brewing, Woodland PTA and Woodland Elementary West. Neil Estrick Pottery, and College of Lake County Ceramics department donated hundreds of hand crafted ceramic bowls, made by local potters, that will be for sale by donation at the event.
