Excellence in financial reporting awarded to Elk Grove Park District

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to Elk Grove Park District by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. An award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to the Finance Department of the Elk Grove Park District.

This is the 12th consecutive year Elk Grove Park District has received this award.

Thomas Busby, finance director of Elk Grove Park District, said, "We are honored once again to receive this award. The internal systems we have in place are instrumental in allowing us to achieve this recognition."

The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

"I recommend all government finance professionals submit their annual financial reports to the GFOA. The standards set by the GFOA assist your organization to meet and exceed your financial reporting responsibilities" said Busby.

GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
