Nolen helps Oakton split

An impressive two-way performance from Charlie Nolen led the Oakton Community College softball team to a 6-2 win in the first game of a doubleheader split with Joliet College last weekend.

Nolen collected 4 RBI on doubles in the second and fifth innings in the opener. She struck out 14 hitters, allowing 2 earned runs, 5 hits and 4 walks in seven innings.

The Raiders scored 1 run on a RBI double by Jessica Loy in the second inning and added four more runs in the top of the fifth.

Nolen kicked things off with a double, bringing home Alanna Serviss, Michelle Czuhajewski and Lindsay Aybar.

In the second game, the Raiders outhit Joliet 8-6 but fell 4-3.

Oakton started the game with nine players but after the first inning had to play the rest of the game with only eight available players.

Caitlin Deady had the hot bat for the Raiders, going 2-3 with an RBI and 1 run.

She singled in the second inning and tripled in the seventh inning.

Nolen racked up 15 strikeouts, allowed no earned runs, 6 hits and 1 walk over 6⅔ innings.
