'Piano Man' Russell Stern performs in Hoffman Estates

Russell Stern, Chicago's "Piano Man," appears in concert at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 6, at St. Hubert Church, 729 Grand Canyon St., Hoffman Estates. Stern's performance is free and open to the public.

The concert pianist, composer and music director has regaled Chicago audiences with his artistry for more than 30 years and has performed at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and theaters including Carnegie Hall.

Stern served as St. Hubert's music director for 11 years and currently holds that post at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Glenview, the largest Catholic parish in the Chicago Archdiocese. He is also developing a musical in New York City.

Stern's recently debuted the album "Awakening," a collection of his original compositions. On it, he plays solo piano on several pieces and adds violin, cello, flute and sax on other selections.
