O'Hare to unveil international terminal overhaul

Chicago's O'Hare Airport is preparing to unveil a $26 million overhaul of retail and dining options at its international terminal.

The city of Chicago partnered with Westfield shopping centers for the Terminal 5 upgrade, which includes a spa, restaurants and high-end retail shops.

Major hub airports around the country are in competition over such amenities in hopes of attracting passengers, especially those in transit who can be tempted to spend money while on a layover.

With the work about 95 percent complete, tours of the improvements are being offered Friday to members of the news media.

Among the new offerings is a local gourmet deli called The Goddess & Grocer and a restaurant overseen by chef Rick Bayless.

There will also be an Emporio Armani and a Michael Kors shop.
