Harper speech team wins big in Indianapolis

The Harper College Speech Team recently returned to Palatine with a big victory under its belt after winning the Community College championship at the Pi Kappa Delta National Speech and Debate tournament held March 20-23 in Indianapolis.

Competing against more than 70 two- and four-year colleges from across the country, the Harper Team took first in the Community College division and finished ninth overall.

Harper's team, under the guidance of coaches Jeff Przybylo, Margaret Bilos and Josh Sunderbruch, has collected more than 200 individual and team awards this season. The team will next compete at the National Community College Championships taking place April 7-12 in Denver.

Speech Team members include: Anna Dowd, Elk Grove Village; Brianna Bitout, Arlington Heights; Celine Hall, Elk Grove Village; Christopher Kremer, Lake Barrington; David Pittman, Mount Prospect; Faraaz Zaidi, Schaumburg; Gissel Saavedra, Hanover Park; Jacqueline Van Lysebettens, Hoffman Estates; Margo Vida, Streamwood; Mason Hoppe, Barrington Hills; Meghan Cwiok, Mount Prospect; Melissa Bleile, Rolling Meadows; Michael Milewski, Arlington Heights; Miguel Melgar, Buffalo Grove; and Patrick Halpin, Hanover Park.
