Grant's a winner at The Dome

Grant's softball team opened its season indoors Friday and pulled out an 8-7 win over Palatine at The Dome in Rosemont.

Caitlyn Moran earned the win and helped her own cause with a triple. The Bulldogs also got a triple from McKenzi Sancken.

George Rogers Clark 11, Vernon Hills 8: In their second game of the day Thursday, the Cougars fell to 0-4 on their trip to Lexington, Ky., despite 3-for-4 efforts from Anna Cirone and Lauren Blitstein.

Cirone doubled twice and knocked in 3 runs, while Blitstein scored twice and drove in a run. Dana Meline was 2-for-5 with a triple, run scored and an RBI.

Madison Central 14, Vernon Hills 4: On Thursday, the Cougars fell to 0-3 on their trip to Lexington, Ky.

Sami Saliba had a double, run scored and 2 RBI for Vernon Hills.

St. Ignatius 11, Grayslake Central 3: On Thursday at the ESPN Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., Juliana Frusolone homered, singled and drove in 2 runs for the Rams, who fell to 2-2.

Skyler Long and Teagan Truskowski had doubles for Grayslake Central against its Illinois opponent.
