5K, 10K & 1-mile fun run -featured in May 4 Deer Dash

Early bird registrations are now being accepted for everyone eight years of age and up to participate in Deerfield Park District's annual Deer Dash, set for Sunday, May 4, at Jaycee Park, in Deerfield. Deer Dash runs start at 7:30 a.m. Event includes options for a 5K Run, 10K Run and 1-Mile Fun Run. Deer Dash is designed for both beginning and experienced runners. There is enough to challenge competitors at all levels. There are no age group awards; everyone who finishes is a winner. The Dash will help participants sharpen their competitive skills in running and get in shape for other area events.

Registrations for Deer Dash (Activity 363301) may be done online at www.deerfieldpark.org or in person at Jewett Park Community Center, 836 Jewett Park Drive, in Deerfield. When registering, indicate: Sect. 01 for the 10K Run; Sect. 02: for the 5K Run; or Sect. 03: for the 1-Mile Fun Run. Prior to May 2, the per person fee, which includes a T-shirt, race packet and refreshments is $20 per resident; $25 per nonresident. After May 2, fees are $25 per residents; $30 per nonresident.

Check in for Deer Dash starts at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 7:15 a.m. Registrations will be accepted on race day if there is room. To sign up on race day, you must register before 7:30 a.m. Deer Dash is organized and run by the Coho Swim Club, co-sponsored by Deerfield Park District and the Park District of Highland Park. Race coordinators say, "We warmly welcome your participation and hope you will make this event a must on your yearly athletic calendar."
