Victory Rock Fellowship to host free community picnic, concert

Victory Rock Fellowship will be hosting a free picnic and concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 27. This picnic will be immediately followed up by a concert featuring the Assemblymen Gospel Quartet.

Victory Rock Fellowship, a growing and vital community church located on Route 176 in Marengo, is hosting the picnic and concert for the Marengo/Union community and surrounding areas, including Crystal Lake, Algonquin, Huntley and Woodstock.

Based out of Rockford, the Assemblymen are a local favorite in the gospel and quartet circuit. One of the original members, tenor Dave Nelson is a retired owner from Nelson Piping Company in Rockford. The other members are sound engineer John Tallacksen, bass Richard Kluck, baritone Paul Nelson and lead vocalist Gary Shull.

The new pastor of Victory Rock Fellowship, Dale Noe, thinks that outreach functions like these are vital to the community. "I firmly believe that as a church, we have the responsibility to reach out to our neighbors through hospitality.

"Through events like these, the community can get to know us as we are, rather than just seeing us as another church on the corner," Noe said. "We truly love and care about our community and this is just one way to show that love, just as Jesus Christ would have us do."
