Visiting Angels of South Elgin is a designated pet food donation site for RunFurShelter's pet food drive. RunFurShelter has partnered with the Salvation Army Golden Diners Program to accept donations of nonperishable, unopened canned and dry dog and cat food.

"When we learned that seniors were giving their food away to their needy pets, we felt compelled to do something," said Sara Johnson, a caregiver who works for Visiting Angels of South Elgin.

When Sara approached Visiting Angels to be a drop-off site, Arlene Petersen, owner of the South Elgin office, instantly agreed to help.

"We love our pets and we love our seniors," said Arlene. "We want to help."

All donations benefit the Salvation Army Golden Diners Program and will be used to purchase pet food to be turned over to this cause. RunFurShelter will also accept toys and treats that are healthy and safe, as well as monetary donations.
