Mount Prospect Fresh Thyme grocery store opening April 23

Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, a new specialty grocery chain launching in the Midwest this year, will hold the grand opening of its Mount Prospect store at 7 a.m. April 23.

The new store is located at 211 W. Rand Road, the site of a former Sports Authority near the Randhurst Village shopping center.

The Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Arlene Juracek and other village officials will be present for the ribbon cutting.

"The entire Fresh Thyme team welcomes community residents to come out and experience what the market has to offer," CEO Chris Sherrell said in a news release. "We are eager to meet our new neighbors and hope to see them on this exciting day."

The grand opening event will feature food samplings and a grocery bag giveaway to the first 200 customers. The celebration will continue throughout the week with events for kids including face painting, balloon animals, and performances by Miss Jamie from the Farm.

"We are excited that Fresh Thyme Farmers Market has chosen Mount Prospect as the first site for this new locally-focused grocer," Juracek said.

Fresh Thyme is hiring a total of 100 local employees, including for full- and part-time jobs in the meat and produce departments. Apply on-site at 211 W. Rand Road or send a resume to MountProspectJobs@FreshThyme.com.
