Perfect finish for Libertyville

Libertyville's softball team was loving Florida this week.

Thanks to a doubleheader sweep of Sidwell (D.C.) Tuesday, the Wildcats finished 5-0 on their trip to the ESPN Sports Complex in Orlando.

Libertyville pounded Sidwell 18-0 and 18-3. In her team's five games, coach Elissa Wisniewski's Wildcats outscored their opponents 70-9.

In the 18-3 win over Sidwell, Madi Dembinski went 4-for-4 with 4 doubles, 4 runs scored and 3 RBI. Jamie Stevens was 2-for-2 with a home run and 3 RBI, while Tayler Oberman (4 RBI) and Haley Alban (triple, double, 3 RBI) each went 3-for-4. Kenzie Rother was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Andi Katz doubled. Michaela Mooney pitched 4 innings, allowing 3 unearned runs and striking out eight, for the win. She also went 1-for-3 at the plate.

Libertyville's Taylor Zoellick had 3 hits in as many plate appearances and 3 RBI in the 18-0 victory. The Wildcats received 2 hits apiece from Oberman (triple, 3 runs, 2 RBI), Jessie Lauret (2 runs), Katz (3 runs, 3 RBI) and Sam Hilldale (2 RBI). Stevens contributed a double and 2 RBI. Carlie Haraden notched the win, throwing 3 shutout innings. She struck out five and yielded only 1 hit.

Grayslake Central sweeps: At the ESPN Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla., the Rams picked up their first two wins under new head coach Jason Schaal on Tuesday, defeating Wisconsin Lutheran 8-1 in their first game, before knocking off Beulah (Ala.) 9-8.

Brittany Brown allowed only 2 hits and 1 unearned run against Wisconsin Lutheran, while striking out 11 and walking just one. Emma Eiserman, Teagan Truskowski and Maddie Marshall had RBI for Grayslake Central, which had just 4 hits (all singles).

Against Beulah, Eiserman led the way offensively with a 3-for-5 performance that included 2 RBI. Juliana Frusolone was 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI, while Brandy Heraty went 2-for-4. Reagan Radtke pitched 5 2/3 innings for the win.
