Schaumburg police seek information on apartment burglaries

The Schaumburg Police Department has identified a burglary pattern targeting two separate apartment properties, one on the village's east side the other in the north central part of town, during the last month.

Police say the offender or offenders enter the main lobby door, sometimes using force, during daytime hours and then look for an apartment where nobody is home. The offenders the attack the deadbolt with a pry-type tool, damaging the door frame to force entry.

Generally, large electronic items like TVs, computers and game systems are taken. On two separate occasions neighbors either witnessed offenders acting suspicious as they entered the building or heard loud noises as entry was being forced. The witnesses did not call 911.

Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to contact the department's investigations division at (847) 348-7055 or email investigations@ci.schaumburg.il.us.
