Prospect Heights man admits to sexual abuse charge

A 30-year-old Prospect Heights man has pleaded guilty to attempting to solicit a 15-year-old boy for sex, court records show.

Jesus Castillo-Vasquez, 30, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of criminal sexual abuse. In exchange for his plea, he was sentenced earlier this week to 180 days in jail and 30 months probation, records show. Additionally, he must pay $689 in fines.

Prosecutors say the victim was home alone in December 2012 with Castillo-Vasquez, who knows a member of the teenager's family.

Castillo-Vasquez tried to force the teen to commit a sex act and, when the teen refused, Castillo-Vasquez attempted to negotiate with the boy, offering him $20 compensation, prosecutors said during Castillo-Vasquez's bond hearing.
