The 2013-14 Early Music Series at Byron Colby Barn in Grayslake closes with a 4 p.m. Sunday, March 23, performance by Rook. Hear Chicago's new generation of historically informed performers in intense interpretations of both 16th and 17th century music on an unusual combination of instruments. Rook's "Eleven Concert" demonstrates the shifting dynamic when composers influenced by the grandeur of the Venetian style wanted to push music over the edge. Admission is $18 for adults and free for children younger than 16, and is available at the door only (cash or check only). The Byron Colby Barn is at 1561 Jones Point Road. Parking is free.
