Courageous Bakery's new weekend brunch
Courageous Bakery, home of Cupcakes for Courage, now serves brunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The weekend menu includes authentic chilaquiles, Belgian waffles, funny face pancakes and more in addition to the bakery's made-from-scratch pastries, croissants, miracle cake, and hand-cut doughnuts. Brunch offerings range from $4 to $6 each.

New top toque takes over at Geneva's Niche
Niche Restaurant will temporarily close after service on Saturday, March 22, and will reopen Tuesday, April 1, with Niche alumni Chris Ayukawa in the role of executive chef. "We're looking forward to creating an even better dining experience for our guests," said Vince Balistreri, sommelier and general manager of Niche. "We're keeping the elements our guests love -- the creative cuisine, the wine, the bar and the handcrafted cocktails -- and modernizing it under chef Ayukawa."

Mickey Finn's honored by Zagat dining survey
Zagat's honored Mickey Finn's Brewery in its 2014 edition of "Between the Bun -- Must Try Burgers Across the Country." According to Zagat, "beer lovers" have a "rollicking time" at the Libertyville tavern with "pretty tasty" bar food and top-notch brews. The brewery is preparing for a big move one block south in the coming weeks.
