Winger declares win in 45th House GOP primary

In the four-way race to determine which Republican will run for the 45th District state House seat in November, Christine Winger of Wood Dale declared victory Tuesday night with a lead of less than 400 votes.

With all the DuPage County precincts and four of five Cook County precincts reporting, unofficial totals show Winger with 3,554 votes to Seth Lewis' 3,167 votes.

Daniel Brinkman of Carol Stream had 2,054 votes while T.J. Lewis of Bartlett had 854.

"I'm looking forward to serving the district and looking forward to November," Winger said from the Diplomat West in Elmhurst, where she awaited results with volunteers and other candidates, including state Rep. Dennis Reboletti, whom she is looking to replace.

Reboletti is running for Kirk Dillard's state Senate seat.

Winger, a 42-year-old financial adviser, is a third-term alderman in Wood Dale with 11 years in office. She will face Democrat Jenny Burke in November.

The 45th District includes all or parts of Addison, Bartlett, Bloomingdale, Carol Stream, Hanover Park, Itasca, Roselle, Wayne, West Chicago and Wood Dale.
