Streamwood fire sends two to hospital

A fire sent two people to the hospital and caused about $5,000 in damage to a Streamwood home Saturday, authorities said.

Firefighters upon arrival found smoke coming from the side of the home on the 700 block of Suffolk Place, according to a news release.

Two adults in the home evacuated when crews arrived about 1:30 p.m.

They were transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates for non-life-threatening conditions, authorities said.

The damage was contained to a bedroom, where the fire started.

The Streamwood Fire Department is investigating the cause.
