Best of all, this won't raise taxes

The Construction Industry Service Corporation strongly endorses passage of the Glenbard High School District 87 zero-tax-rate-increase bond referendum that will appear on the Tuesday, March 18 ballot.

Glenbard North, South, East, and West have provided a high-quality education to thousands of students. These facilities are utilized all year long by our students, teachers, parents, and countless community groups.

These four high school buildings are a combined 231 years old. Vital infrastructure renovations are needed to repair roof structures, heating, ventilation, and electrical systems to insure the safety of our children and community.

As a former code compliance chief, I have inspected far too many buildings severely damaged by the absence of proper infrastructure maintenance and repairs. In addition to being very costly, buildings often have to be closed due to water damage, mold, poor ventilation and other safety and health issues - the direct result of neglected infrastructure repairs.

This bond issue will protect our building assets, by replacing outdated roof sections, heating and ventilation systems, and inadequate electrical systems. More importantly, the students and community who spend so many hours within the walls of these schools, will be safe.

Furthermore, new science labs, classrooms and technology innovations will insure our schools continue to provide a safe, quality education for our children.

I strongly urge all Glenbard District 87 voters to vote for the repair bonds to insure our investment in our school facilities provide a safe home for quality education for our children, and a cornerstone of our community. And the best part, this bond extension does not raise taxes.
